This week’s watercolour lesson was all about testing the surface of the paper

I showed my students how to conduct “fair tests” with beautiful Chinese lanterns as a theme.

Thanks to St Cuthberts Mill for producing the sample packs of Bockingford watercolour paper in Hot pressed, Cold pressed (NOT) and Rough

This was a great way to be able to educate about the differences and explain how they’re made 😊👩‍🎨

These are my new
“Door stops to die for”! 🤩🌈🚪

When setting up for my classes I need door stops while I get the tables out etc. They all go missing!
…..So I asked the boss at “Men in sheds” in Poynton if he could make me a couple and he did.

I then tarted them up with a bit of paint!

I shared the finished results at “The centre” yesterday

What do you think? 🤔

Very Ali!!

Very smart xx

So this is what you were designing! I bet they disappear too!. 🤣

They are fab Ali.

Great idea! 👍🏻😃

Your doorstops will become collectibles!😅

Fantastic! Watch they don't go missing too - very desireable 🤗🤗🤗

Three of my favourite vessels!

I have just realised that I don’t do “straight!” I prefer misshapen (and yes…it is on purpose!

I also don’t do browns or greys 😁which I thought was quite limiting but I’m learning how over layering glazes produces vet exciting things!!!

Who else likes colourful wonky shapes? 🤪Image attachmentImage attachment

I just don’t do round things 😂 so I don’t throw. Irregular shapes are much more interesting and try amaco glazes for layers….spectacular

I do! Love organic shapes.

They're delightful! Yes I prefer wonky "organic" shapes to anything regular or geometric

We artistic peeps, love all this creating and playing with randomness…love these.

The subject for our pottery class this term is birds so I’m learning how to produce sculptures!

I made this working from my painting of a barn owl. Still quite a bit of work to do yet! 🦉🤩🦉
