Which version do you prefer?

One is neatly painted in portrait format and the other is loosely painted in landscape format.

This Northern cardinal from Canada is the subject. I was asked if we could paint a winter bird. I often ask my students if there is anything they would like to cover in class. This is one of them.

I have one place in my Wednesday morning class starting next week

Or Square?! I prefer your painterly lively landscape picture

I like the one on the right with the tiny red paint splatters near the tail. It looks as though it’s shaking its tail feathers x

Love the first one, would look very festive on a card 😊😊

Loosely painted one

Both lovely. I love the loose one.

I am a bird person so like the first one as it is unusual to us in GB

Both gorgeous!

Love the loose painting!

I love the first one!

Experimenting for my “Frosty landscape all day workshop” in February (while attending the Stockport art guild evening where everyone was painting some kind of Winter scene)

This workshop is …full but there are still spaces on my “Market scene in mixed media” in April

This was my lesson for my Acrylics classes this week

The main objective was to learn how to use multiple layers of paint with glazes in between. This helped to both create the idea of distance and portray Autumnal misty conditions.

I currently have two spaces in my acrylics classes starting next week

My peacock planter

Made at my lovely evening class at Poynton pottery.
It didn’t turn out exactly as I planned …but that’s all part of the learning curve!
I’ve been experimenting with acrylic inks on top. …and I’m still going to try more! I love the glass effects in ceramics… the bright colours and the translucency. I shall keep experimenting until I’ve worked it out!! 🤩👩‍🎨🎨Image attachmentImage attachment
